State law requires <br />a recommendation ~o the City Council. This resolution will <br /> <br /> Associated Naval Architects, <br />to vacate, close, and discontinue <br />that viewers be appointed to make <br />appoint viewers.to view this portion of West Norfolk Road and to report to City Council <br />in writing, their opinion of said closing. The City Manager recommends adoption.'~ <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Gray, the £ollowing r~§~tut~m was adopted, <br />and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR CLOSING THH FOLLOWING: A PORTION OF <br /> WEST NORFOLK ROAD. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Associated Naval Architects, Inc. and Virginia Chemicals, Inc. have made applica~ <br />tion to_vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter-described portion of West Norfolk / <br />Road, and it appearing that Notice of Application and request for the appointment of viewers was <br />duly posted March 8, 1979 on the bulletin board of the General District Court, Civil Division,I <br />of the City ~f Portsmouth, the bulletin board of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, <br />and the bulle'tin~board of City Hall of the City of Pcrtsmouth. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that <br />Frank N. [BLli~oly~ L. A. Clark, A. N. Kendrick, Charles Hudgins and James Griffin be appointed <br />viewers anH R. Bids were <br />opened'o~ ~afch Z0, 1979 and only one bid was received in the amount of $1,650.00 by the <br />Church of the Latter Day Saints. The City Manager recommends adoption." <br /> <br /> On m.otion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the following resolution was adopted, <br />an'~ by the following vote: <br /> <br />~'A' R~SULUTION ACCEPTING THE OFFER OF CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF THE LATTER DAY <br />SAINTS TO PURCHASE PROPERTY ON ELMHURST LANE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />CONVEY. <br /> <br /> -WHEREAS, by Resolution adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth on February 27, <br />1979, the City Manager authorized to advertise and receive bids for the sale of certain said <br />property located on the west side of Elmhurst Lane; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on March 20, 1979, the offer of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints <br />in the amount of-One Thousand, Six Hundred Fifty and OO/100 ($1,650.) Dollars for use of the <br />property in connection with adjoining church property which is being developed was received; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to convey the said property for the con- <br />sideration and purposes set forth in said bid. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that <br />the bid of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to purchase the said proFerty for <br />the sum of On,'Thousand, Six Hundred Fifty and OO/1OO ($1,650.)
