In accordance with State law, the City Council appointed viewers on February <br />27, 1979. The viewers have reported, mn writing, that in their opinion no inconvenience <br />would result from the closing and discontinumng of said street. A copy of the viewers report <br />and plat are attached for your information. A resolution appointing <br />viewers was adopted on February 27, 1979. The viewers report and plat are attached hereto. <br />The City Manager recommends adoption." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Oast and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the following ordinance was adppted <br />on first and final reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE CLOSING THE FOLLOWING: A PORTIN OF UNNAMED ALLEY." <br /> <br />Ayes~ Barnes, Early, Elliott, Gray, Holley, Oast <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> - 79-100 "Consideration of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey an ease- <br />men£ to the United ~tates of America [Department of the Navy) on Progress Avenue. <br /> <br /> The United States Navy wishes to, construct a 6" water line and a 6" sanitary force <br />main in connection with improvements fo~ its depermmng station situated in the Elizabeth <br />River. The design_for the construction of said water line and force main would locate <br />a portion, of th~ same within the right-of-way of Progress Avenue in the City of Portsmouth. <br />The United States Navy has agreed to pay the sum of $550.00 for this easement. They have al~ <br />agreed to relocate said water line and force main at its own expense mn the event the City <br />requests the sa~e ~'~connection with street improvements. BE I~ RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that <br />the City Manager b~,i~nd~hg~ ~eby is, authorized to convey to the United States of America <br />(DeparZment~of-Navy)-a-perpetual easement for the construction, installation, operation, <br /> <br /> <br />
