Finch, 6 Upshur Place, ~epresenting Cradock Forum-Cradock Little League, spoke <br />support of the resolution and expressed appreciation of all that is being done for the <br />Cradock Little League; presented letter received from Congressman Robert W.Daniel, Jr. <br />(See Exhibit 79-280) <br /> <br />in <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Beamer, the following resolution was adopted, <br />and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE CONCERN OF THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />VIRGINIA, THAT THE RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AT ST. JULIEN'S <br />AVAILABLE FOR RECREATIONAL USE. <br /> <br />CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />CREEK ANNEX REMAIN <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Portsmouth have <br />recreational program for over five hundred (500) children <br />is part .of' St'. Julien's Creek Annex; and <br /> <br />for many years operated a <br />annually on 39.2 acres of <br /> <br />successful <br />land that <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, since 1968, the Cradock Little League has constructed baseball and football <br />fields on the site and the recreational area is used for youth baseball and football programs <br />and Portsmouth Catholic High School Soccer games; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City <br />and other groups usi.ng <br />Department of the Navy <br /> <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, has coordinated the activities of the <br />this property and entered into a on~ (1) year license agreement <br />for the use of said property; and <br /> <br />leagues <br />with th, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is no City-owned site that can accommodate all these facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the continued use of said property is in jeopardy if the property is declared <br />surplus and acquired for industrial development. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT <br />the City Council expresses <br />for recreational purposes. <br /> <br />RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that <br />its interest in the property in order to assure its continued use <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Elerk be, and she hereby is, directed to forward a <br />certified copy of this Resolution to Senator Harry F. Byrd, Jr., Senator John W. Warner, Congr~ <br />Robert W.
