<br />The following reports from the City Manager were presented:

<br /> 80-142 "Consideration of an ordinance on first reading reenacting Ordinance =1979-48
<br />imposing and levying taxes beginning July 1 and ending June 30 of every fiscal year, unless
<br />otherwise changed by Council, on real estate, tangible personal property, and machinery
<br />and tools for the purpose of raising revenue for the support of governmental operations and
<br />the free public schools and to pay principal and interest on the public debt.
<br />
<br /> This ordinance will reestablish
<br />June 30, 1981 the tax rates for real
<br />tools within the City of Portsmouth,
<br />first reading."
<br />
<br />for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1980 and ending

<br />WISE CHANGED BY COUNC%L, ON REAL ESTATE, IANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERTY, AND
<br />MACHINERY AND TOOLS WITHIN THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, FOR THE PURPOSE
<br />OF RAISING REVENUE FOR THE SUPPORT OF GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS AND THE PUBLIC
<br />FREE SE~OOLS AND TO PAY PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST ON THE PUBLIC DEBT."

<br /> 80-143 - "Consideration of an ordinance
<br />for the operation of the City for and during
<br />ending June 30, 1981.
<br />
<br />on first reading to appropriate funds necessary
<br />the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1980 and
<br />
<br /> This ordinance will provide the necessary funds for the 1980-81 Fiscal Year for each
<br />of the City's 13 operating funds. A summary of each fund is attached outlining the total
<br />appropriation recommended for each fund. The City Manager recommends adoption on first
<br />reading."

<br />thereafter, fixing the rate and requiring the payment thereof, requiring certain reports,
