We believe that <br />this building is an assen to our city and can be renovated to the benefit of the city. There <br />is also no compelling reason for it to be demolished. Parker, and others." · <br /> <br /> Substitute motion of Mr. Oast and seconded by Mr. Beamer, that the following resolution <br />be approved in concept and a public hearing be scheduled for March 24, 1981; hence at which <br />time we wou. ld receive further comments or ame~Jm~ms'~o the plan, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE REVISED CRAWFORD HARBOR WATERFRONT PEVELOPMENT PLAN OF <br />THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH IN CONCEPT AND OUTLINING PROPOSED USES TO INCLUDE RESIDEN- <br />TIAL, COMMERCIAL AND PUBLIC DEVELOPMENT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth requested an overall review of the <br />Crawford Harbor Waterfront Development Plan in relation to physical changes in the project <br />area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Crawford Harbor Waterfront Development Plan was amended to provid~ <br />one residential tower structure of twenty-five stories instead of the original three <br />towers of fifteen storzes each; and <br /> <br />for <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, construction on the south end of the Crawford Harbor Waterfront Development <br />Plan was amended to provide for a City Hall Complex and private office building instead of <br />the original City Hall-lightship Museum Complex; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, construction on the north end of the <br />Plan was amended to relocate the parking garage on <br />Development; and <br /> <br />Crawford Harbor Waterfront Development <br />property adjacent to the Holiday Inn <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Council requested modification of the plan to create public space and access <br />to the seawall and the center of the plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, plans have now been developed by the design engineers to insorporate all of <br />the proposals relative to residential commer~mal and public development of the waterfront <br />area; and ' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of t~is Council, the revised plan conforms <br />plan for the development of the City of Portsmouth as a whole and is in <br />of the City and its inhabitants. <br /> <br />to the general <br />the best interest <br /> <br /> I~HEREAS, petitions have been ~eceived requesting that the Seaboard Building (Old <br />Municipal Building) be preserved a~d restored as a tangible reminder of an impressive past <br />and as a market place centerpiece for waterfront development. <br /> <br /> <br />
