A contract was subsequently awarded, and the City
has received an underwater pile investigation report from the contractor.

Sufficient funds are in the existing contract, however, 8 more piles are damaged to such
an extent that they should also be jacketed before winter. Approximately 25 more piles
should be treated in a similar manner next year.

The Acting City Engineer estimates that the 8 pilings will cost $23,900. The existing
contract contains $11,871 for contingencies; thus an appropriation of $12,000 is required.
The 1982-87 Capital improvement Program authorizes $123,900 in the current year for seawall
repairs and sufficient authoriztion therefore remains.
