82-355 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoptions, of Cox Cable rate increase,
which~ilI also include the copyright fee imposed by the Copyright Federal Tribunal.

"Attached is a letter from the Chairman of the Cable Television Commission recommending
final approval of Cox Cable's interim rate increase and approval of an additional $.29 in-
crease due to changes in copyright royalty fees. Staff analysis indicates that Cox has at-
· emp~t~ in good faith to meet the criteria establ~is.hed by the City when the interim increase
was granted. Although there is certainly room for~more improvement~ I believe that Cox's
level of service has improv6d since

In addition, the copyright rbyalty issue has been resolved to my satisfaction with Cox's
ta~es~ proposal, a copy of which is attached. Therefore, I would concur in the recommendation
of the Cable Television Commission, subject to Cox's dronping its suit against the City of
Portsmouth. ~
