<br /> 83-303 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution authorizing
<br />the School Board to prepare and submit applications, accept, and expend funds from Federal,
<br />State and other agencies.
<br /> 'As you are aware, during the course of the budge~ year, the School Board makes appli-
<br />cations for funds from Federal and State to s~upport various special programs. Attached is
<br />a resolution providing your authorization for these grant pursuits as well as appropriate
<br />expenditures. The Superintendent of Schools is required to report the receipt and expendi-
<br />
<br />tures of [unds to me.

<br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA,
<br /> TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR, RECEIVE AND EXPEND FUNDS FROM FEDERAL, STATE AND OTHER
<br /> AGENCIES NOT PRESENTLY BUDGETED IN THE 1983-84 SCHOOL BUDGET; DIRECTING THE
<br /> SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS TO REPORT RECEIPT AND EXPENDITUR~ OF SUCH FUNDS TO
<br /> THE CITY MANAGER.
<br /> WHEREAS, educational funds from a variety of governmental agencies become available
<br />during the fiscal year; and
<br /> WHEREAS, in many occasions, priority of funding is based upon timely application.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that
<br /> the School Board of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, is authorized to make application for,
<br /> receive and expend funds from federal, state and other governmental agencies not previously
<br /> budgeted in the 1983-84 School Budget.
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Superintendent of Schools is directed ~o advise the City
<br /> Manager of the receipt and expenditure of such funds.
