<br />
<br />Rezoning application of William C. George, Jr. and Gilbert R. Bailey,
<br />Owners, for property at 5605 Portsmouth Boulevard~ from Residential
<br />R-75 to Commercial C-1.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Gray, that William C. George, Jr. request
<br />for an additional 5 minutes to speak be granted, and was adopted by unanimous vote.
<br />
<br /> William C. George, Jr., 112 Riverside Drive, representing petitioners, $pqke~indsupport
<br />of the petition, and r~quested consideration for approval.
<br />
<br /> Joseph Knight, 4820 Portsmouth Boulevard, representing Simonsdale Civic Club, stated
<br />from ~od Lion (~orm~ly Colonial Store) on the northside of Portsmouth Boulevard to Shea
<br />Street, except corner of City Park Avenue, is residential area, and would like to keep the~
<br />Simonsdale area residential.
<br />
<br /> John Wallae~,957-C Suburban Parkway, stated that there were homes on both sides of
<br />· Haysom Street and two or three homes are directly behind the building on property requesting
<br /> to be rezoned.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb, to concur with the recommendation of the
<br />Planning Commission.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Holley and seconded by Mr. Beamer, to suspend the rules for William C.
<br />George, Jr. to speak agRi.n, and was adopted by unanimous vote.
<br />
<br /> Mr. George stated that he was only considering to rent the building to be used as an
<br />antique or ceramic shop, and that he did have someone interested in doing so.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Holley that Z 83-29 be referred back to the Planning Commission, with
<br />input from management in terms of trying to ascertain what is best possible use without the
<br />confines of the Comprehensive Plans, and motion died due to the lack of a seconded.
<br />
<br /> On motion Z 83~29 to be denied, as recommended, and was adopted by the following
<br />vote:

<br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mrs. Webb, to concur in the recommendation of the
<br />Planning Commission to rezone property at 4515, 4517 and 4521 ~iver Shore Road and 5600 and
<br />5601 Parish Lane, from Residential R-150 to Residential R-75-S-K, and the following ordinance
<br />was approved on first reading by unanimous vote:
