<br />"A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR THE CLOSING OF A PORTION OF P~AVEN STREET.

<br /> WHEREAS, A1 Dumire and Charles Satterfield, Jr. have made application to vacate, close an
<br />discontinue the herein-after-described~ portion of Raven Street, and it appearing that notice
<br />of application and request for the appointment of viewers was duly advertised as required by
<br />law.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that
<br />A. N. Kendrick, James Moss, Clinton J. Fortune, Matthew L. Peanort, and L. A. Clark be ap-
<br />pointed viewers, and that Simon P. Arrington and R. E. B. Stewart be appointed alternate
<br />viewers in the event one of the preceding viewers fails to participate, said viewers to view
<br />the hereinafter-described portion of such street and to report to this Council in writing
<br />whether in their opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience would result in the vacating and
<br />closing the following:

<br />
<br /> All that portion of Raven Street between Greenwood Drive and Barclay
<br />Avenue."

<br /> 84-108 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution authorizing
<br />the lease of City owned property to the United States Postal Service (30 Prospect Parkway).
<br />
<br /> "As you are aware in 1974 the United States Postal Service began leasing, from the City
<br />of Portsmouth, the old Cradock Library at the cost of $6,000 per year. I have been notified
<br />by Mr. Luke McCoy, Director of General Services, that the figure is still sufficient to off-
<br />set our costs.
<br />
<br /> It is therefore recommended that the attached resolution be adopted authorizing con-
<br />tinuance of the lease agreement with the United States Postal Service for property at 30
<br />Prospect Parkway."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Beamer, the following resolution was adopted,
<br />and by the following vote:
<br />
<br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO LEASE CITY OWNED PROPERTY TO THE
<br />UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE (30 PROSPECT PARKWAY).
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the United States Postal Service desires to lease that portion of the premises
<br />owned by the City of Portsmouth known as 30 Prospect Parkway for the purpose of housing the
<br />Cradock Station Postal Facility; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth is of the opinion that it would be in the
<br />best interest of the citizens of the City to lease said premises for such purpose.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that
<br />the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to lease City owned property designated as
<br />Prospect Parkway to the United States Postal Service.
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute
<br />such documents as maybe necessary to complete said transaction."

<br /> 84-109 z Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution accepting as
<br />a gift from Amelia G. McLean the conveyance of 2.77 acres of land.
<br />
<br /> "On Eebruary 14, 1984, City Council approved the acquisition for purchase of property
<br />for the proposed Transfer Station site to be used in the operation of the regional sanitation
<br />landfill. Although allco~i~TZ~ p~o%i~ed by the Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA)
<br />the City of Portsmouth will act as agent for SPSA. Towards that~effort it is recQmmended that
<br />City Council adopt the attached resolution accepting, as a deed Of gift, from Mrs. _Amelia G.
<br />McLean 2.77 acres of land valued at $44,500.
<br />
<br /> I recommend that we accept this gift and~notify Mrs. McLean of City Council's gratitude
<br />and appreciation following adoption of the attached resolution."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb~
<br />that a resolution be prepared thanking Mrs. Amelia G.

<br />"A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AS A GIFT FROM ~4ELIA G. McLEAN THE CONVEYANCE OF 2.77
<br />ACRES OF LAND.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Amelia G. McLean owns a certain parcel of undeveloped land located in the City
<br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, which she wishes to donate and convey to the City of Portsmouth for
<br />the benefit of the City of Portsmouth and its citizens; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, at the request of the City of Portsmouth, said property was recently appraised a
<br />the value of Forty Four Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($44,500), which is believed to repre-
<br />
<br />
<br />
