May 8, 1984 <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Beamer, to withdraw 84-152 and act on 84-153 <br />before acting on 84-152, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 84-183 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance No. 1983-41 <br />imposing and levying taxes for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 1984 and ending June 30, 1985 <br /> <br /> "As I indicated in my budget message, I am recommending no tax rate increases for the <br />1984-85 fiscal year. Therefore, the enclosed Ordinance is for the purpose of simply re-enacti: <br />the present tax rates on real estate, tangible personal property and machinery and tools. <br /> <br /> I recommend that the City Council adopt ithis ordinance re-enacting the present tax rates <br />for the next fiscal year." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Holley, to adopt on first reading the present <br />tax rate, as recommended. <br /> <br /> Substitute motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Whitlow, to reduce the tax rate back <br />to $1.30 per $100.00 value, and was defeated by ~he following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes:. As you recall, the original design did not provide <br />for covered drainage. The center ditches result in high maintenance costs and are hazardous <br />from a traffic and health prospective.
