<br /> On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Beamer, the following resolution was adopted,
<br />and by the following vote:

<br />"A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEi~ERS FOR THE CLOSING OF AN UNNAMED AiLEY BETWEEN
<br />DEEP CREEK BOULEVARD AND COLUMBUS AVENUE.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has made application to vacate, close and discontinue
<br />the hereinafter-described portmon of a certamn unnamed alley, and it appearing that notice
<br />of application and request for the appointment of viewers has been duly advertised as
<br />required by law.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED b~ the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that A. N. Kendrick. James Moss, Clinton J. Fortune, Matthew L.~em~0mtgmnktL. A. Clark be
<br />appointed viewers, and that Harrison Miller and James H. Griffin be appointed alternate
<br />viewers in the event one of the preceding vxewers fails to participate, said vmewers to
<br />view the hereinafter-described portion of such street, and to report to this Council in
<br />writing whether in their op±nion any, and if any, what inconvenmence would result from
<br />vacating and closing the following:

<br />UNNAMED ALLEY
<br />
<br /> All that portion of the unnamed alley located between the north side
<br />of Deep Creek Boulevard and the south side of Cclumbus Avenue. The said alley
<br />is described on the subdivision plat of "Prentis Park" recorded in Map Book 13,
<br />Page 51, in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake,
<br />Virginia."

<br /> 84-224 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution establishing
<br />a Money Purchase Plan in the form of the ICMA-Retirement Corporation Prototype Money Purchase
<br />Plan ~nd Trust.
<br />
<br /> 'The ICMA Retirement Corporation has recently developed a retirement program which is
<br />known as the ICMA Retirement Corpcration Prototype Money Purchase Plan and Trust. It re-
<br />presents a primary retirement program for any employee who is a participant in the Plan. In
<br />order for the City of Portsmouth to be eligible as an employer for participation ~n the Pla~
<br />it is necessary for the enclosed resolution ~o be adopted.
<br />
<br />A summary of the Plan is enclosed. If there are any questions, please call me."

<br />"A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH,
<br />MONEY PURCHASE PLAN IN THE FORM OF THE ICMA RETIREMENT
<br />MONEY PURCHASE PLAN AND TRUST.
<br />
<br />VIRGINIA ESTABLISHING A
<br />CORPORATION PROTOTYPE
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, Virglnma, has employees rendering valuable services;
<br />and
<br />
<br /> ~EREAS, the establishment of a Money Purchase Plan will benefit a specified group or
<br />groups of,.employees by providing funds for retirement and funds for their beneficiaries in
<br />the event'-of death; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the establishment of a Money Purchase Plan will assist the City of Portsmouth
<br />in attracting and retaining qualified personnel; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth desires that its Money Purchase Plan be administered
<br />by the ICMA Retirement Corporation.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Portsmouth establishes a Money Purchase
<br />Plan in the form of the ICMA Retirement Corporation Prototype Money Purchase Plah~and Trust,
<br />pursuant to the specific provisions of the executed Adoption Agreement. the plan and the
<br />trust forming a part hereof are established and shall be maintained for the exclusive
<br />benefit of eligible employees and their beneficiaries."

<br /> 84-225 Letter from the City Manager recc. mmending adoption of a resolution authorizing
<br />the conveyance of property to Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority at 434 Madison
<br />Street.
<br />
<br /> "The Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA) has made an offer to purchase
<br />the property located at 434 Madison Street for the assessed value of $600. This property is
<br />located in the Southside III Redevelopment Project and will be combined with other oronerties
<br />for resale for private development.
<br />
<br /> Your approval of the attached resolution will authorize the conveyance of this property
<br />to PRHA."
<br />
