The Base Bid for the project included a 6 ft. wide pile supported deck on the perimeter o
the North Inlet from the steps to the ferry dock west around the end of the inlet and termi-
nating at approximately the mid=point of the south side of the inlet adjacent to the existing
dolphins. The alternates include relocation of two existing dolphins, decking to the end of
the inlet, additional concrete floats, and copper caps on all piles.

The low bidder for the entire project is Tidewater Dock and Structures, Inc. They are
a reputable firm which is presently constructing the improvements at Waterside and installed
the floating piers and decking for Portside. The Director of Planning, Engineering and
Inspections recommends award to the low bidder, Tidewater Dock and Structures, Inc., with a
total project cost determined as follows:
ect was bid with the contractor specifying the completion time. The construc-
the low bidder is 135 calendar days (or approximately 4~ months). It is request
ect be awarded at the December Council meeting, the first reading. By taking

this approach, the project could be completed by May 1, 1985. If we have to wait until the
middle 9f January to award (there is no second Council meeting in December) that will put com-
pletion at June 1, 1985. The City has received verbal approvals on our permit from both the
Corps of Engineers and the Marine Resources Commission and expect the paperwork to follow
shortly.

Attached is the necessary ordinance to accomplis this task and I ]recawmend its approval
· in addition to awarding a contract to the low bidder for this project on first reading."

On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Beamer, the following ordinance was approved
on first reading; contract to be awarded to Tidewater Dock & Structures, Inc., as recommended,
and was adopted by unanimous vote:
"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $170,000 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMEN-T FUND FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF DOCKING FACILITIES FOR SMALL BOATS IN THE NORTH HARBOR."

84-453 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance to appropriat
$50,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund for construction, repair, and replacement of City
sidewalks. Motion to award contract to low bidder.

"The 1984-89 Capital Improvement Program earmarks $50,000 for concrete repair and re-
placement in various locations in the City. Bids were received on November 27, 1984 for this
work as follows:

(1) Aldo Construction Corporation
(2) Rodgers Concrete Contractors

City Estimate

$59,696.65
$72,154.00

$50,000.00

The object of obtaining bids was to acquire unit prices for the various anticipated con-
crete work. Adjusting the quantity of individual units, we were able to get the maximum
Construction for our limited City dollars. The revised cost breakdown is as follows:

Contract Price (Aldo Construction Corporation)_
Contract Administration & Inspection

$42,500.00
$ 7,500.00

TOTAL PROJECT COST

$50,000.00

Therefore, the total cost of this project (including contract administration and
inspection) is $50,000 ), which requires appropriation of the $50,000 from FY 84-85 of the
1984-89 Capital Improvement Program. The Director of Planning, Engineering and Inspections
recommends a~ard of a contract to the low bidder, Aldo Construction Corporation.

Attached is the necessary ordinance to accomplish this task and I 'recommend its approval
in addition to awarding a contract to the low bidder for this project."

On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb, the following ordinance was approved on
first reading; contract to be awarded to Aldo Construction Corporation, as recommended, and
was adopted by unanimous vote.

"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $50,000 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEblENT FUND FOR
CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF CITY SIDEWALKS."
