April 23, lq85 <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, that it announce~ <br />its support for the continued operati3n of Frederick Military Academy and requests the assist- <br />ance. of its citizens and those of the entire Tidewater Area to support the effort of those <br />persons working to assure the continual operation of Frederick Military Academy. <br /> <br />Ayes: Beamer, Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Webb, Whitlow, Holley <br />Nays-: None <br /> <br /> -Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb, to suspend the rules to allow Mr. Ron Steffe <br />to speak again, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Mr. Steffey invited Members of the City Council for Field Day at the Academy on Wednesday, <br />April 24, at 1:00 p.m. <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />Consent Agenda <br /> <br /> On-motion of Mr. <br />reading at the Public <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Gray and seconded by Mr. Whitlow, the following items approved on first <br />Hearing and regular meeting of March 12, 1985, were adopted by the <br /> <br />88-87(c) <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL FOR A GROUP HOUSING PROJECT <br />PURSUANT TO SECTION 40-55 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, AS AMENDED, SAID PROJECT BEING A SIX-UNIT APARTMENT <br />BUILDING LOCATED ON THE WEST SIDE OF HAMILTON AVENUE, SOUTH OF <br />COMMERCE STREET AND DESIGNATED AS GHP-85-4. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Raymond Hembree and Ernest Consolvo have made application pursuant to §40-55 of <br />the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, as amended, for the granting and approval <br />of a group housing project consisting of a six-unit apartment building to be constructed on <br />west side of Hamilton Avenue, south of Commerce Street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the application has been determined by the Planning Commission to have met the <br />requirements of Section 40-55 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, as amende~ <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed such application and site plans submitted <br />therewith and has recommended approval of said application; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the developer has been informed that approval of the housing project pursuant to <br />said Section 40-55 grants only an exemption from certain requirements for residences as stated <br />in said section and does not constitute a waiver of any other requirement embodied in the <br />Subdivision Ordinance, Zoning Ordinance, Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, or any othe~ <br />applicable local, state or federal law or regulation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the developers are aware that building permits or any other required permit will <br />be issued only upon compliance with the ordinances, lawz cq rc§~i~tions applicable thereto. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that <br />the certain group housing project consisting of a six-unit apartment building to be constructe~ <br />on the west side of Hamilton Avenue, south of Commerce Street, which has bee~ de~ignated as <br />GHP-85-4 and more specifically described in correspondence from Raymond Hembree, dated <br />4, 1985, and February 25, 1985 as shown on plans filed with the appropriate officials of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, such being made a part hereof, is hereby granted approval subjec <br />to the following terms and conditions: <br /> <br />1. Vinyl shutters shall be used on all windows viewed from Hamilton Avenue~ <br /> <br /> 2. A landscape plan showing treatment ef the du~pster screening and shifting the buildin <br />south to preserve existing vegetation must be submitted to the Planning Office for review and <br />approval prior to the issuance of building permits; amd <br /> <br /> 3.
