With this closing, certain sections of Chapter 14 of the City Code will have
to be amended. This amendment will also allow for the closure of the City Landfill in accord-
ance with the City's agreement with SPSA. Attached is an ordinance prepared,by the City Attor
ney which would accomplish this task.

I might note that residents of Portsmouth who could dump free at the Landfill and Incine-
rator will be allowed to continue to dump free at the Transfer Station (SPSA hours will he
recognized).~

I recommend that the attached ordinance repealing appropriate sections of the City Code
be approved."

On motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Gray, the following ordinance was adopted on
first and final reading, and by the following vote:

"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 14-2 AND 14-5 PERTAINING TO DISPOSAL OF REFUSE AND
GARBAGE AND TO REPEAL SECTIONS 14-4 AND 14-5 OF THE CODE OF ~HE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH,
~973, PERTAINING TO DEPOSITING OF INCINERABLE REFUSE AND CHARGES FOR CITY INCINER-
ATOR OR LANDFILL."

Ayes: Beamer, Corprew, Gray, Lucas, W0hb, Whitlow, Holley
Nays: None

85-181 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance to amend the
Cede of the City of Portsmouth, by amending Sections 9-32, 9-33, 9-80, and 9-81, and repealing
Sections 9-34 and 9-82 so as to combine Precincts 16, 17, and 18 and subdivide them into two
Precincts to be designated Precincts 16 and 17, as requested by the Electoral Board.
