January 13, 2026 <br /> <br />Financial impact: <br /> <br /> No local match is required as a condition of the funding. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will make the necessary budget adjustments. <br /> <br /> Public Utilities will utilize the funds for the uses authorized under the settlement <br />agreement. <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING SETTLEMENT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $85,832.12 <br />FROM THE PFAS SETTLEMENT WITH DUPONT AND APPROPRIATING SAID <br />AMOUNT IN THE FY 2026 PUBLIC UTILITIES FUND FOR USE BY THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC UTILITIES FOR WATER SUPPLY TESTING AND <br />TREATMENT AND OTHER AUTHORIZED USES UNDER THE TERMS OF THE <br />SETTLEMENT. <br />” <br /> <br />26 - 09 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting respite care funding in the amount of <br />$2,070 from the Virginia Department of Social Services and appropriating said <br />amount in the FY 2026 Social Services Fund for direct supervision of children by <br />respite care providers. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> Respite care is a therapeutic support service designed to offer short-term relief for <br />foster families caring for children by providing substitute care for the child. <br /> <br /> Respite care is designed to reduce foster home disruption and provide a stable <br />foster care placement for the child. It can be provided on an emergency or planned basis. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> Respite care funds are paid directly to an approved respite provider for direct <br />supervision of the child. <br /> <br /> Respite care funds are not an alternative means to pay for children’s or families’ <br /> <br />needs. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> <br /> No local match is required as a condition of the funding. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will make the appropriate budget adjustments. <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING RESPITE CARE FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,070 <br />FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING <br />SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2026 SOCIAL SERVICES FUND FOR DIRECT <br />SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN BY RESPITE CARE PROVIDERS. <br />” <br /> <br />26 - 10 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a Vacation Starts with VA MMLP Co- <br />Op Program grant in the amount of $1,250 from the Virginia Tourism Corporation <br />and appropriating said amount to the FY 2026 Grants Fund for use by the <br />Department of Museums and Tourism for marketing. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The Virginia Tourism Corporation makes available annually a menu of grants and <br />cooperative marketing programs to assist localities with tourism. Depending on the <br />number of applications, grants may or may not be funded at 100%. <br /> <br /> Virginia Tourism provides strict guidelines on the application process and how the <br /> <br />grant money can be spent. <br /> <br /> The Department of Museums and Tourism submitted an acceptable program and <br /> <br />has been awarded a $1,250 cooperative marketing reimbursement grant. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
