July 22, 2025 <br /> <br /> <br /> The funds provided by Sentara are classified as a “Gift”, which is a one-time <br />offering, and are to be distributed by TEM to 10 jurisdictions, including the counties of <br />Accomack, Isle of Wight, and Northampton; the Town of Chincoteague; and the cities of <br /> <br />Chesapeake, Franklin, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. <br /> <br /> The funds were divided among the jurisdictions by TEM based upon transport <br />volume to Sentara facilities with medication usage during fiscal year 2024. Portsmouth’s <br /> <br />share is $42,064.08. <br /> <br /> <br /> The funds must be used for pharmaceutical related purposes. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> The Sentara Cares funds will assist PFRES with acquiring, storing, dispensing, <br /> <br />and properly disposing of critical and lifesaving medications. <br /> <br />Financial impact: <br /> <br /> The funding available to the Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services <br /> <br />would increase by $42,064.08.
