November 12, 2024 <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Hugel, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING SUPPLEMENTARY WORKFORCE FUNDING IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $59,235.14 FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL <br />HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING SAID <br />AMOUNT IN THE FY 2025 BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE SERVICE FUND BUDGET <br />FOR USE BY BHS TO SUPPORT WORKFORCE INITIATIVES.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Hugel, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Tillage, Whitaker, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />24 - 336 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting CIT Assessment Site funds in the <br />amount of $305,949 from the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and <br />Developmental Services and appropriating said amount in the FY 2025 Behavioral <br />Healthcare Service Fund for use by BHS to provide de-escalation and pre- <br />admission screening services. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The CIT Assessment Site funds are allocated to provide de-escalation and pre- <br />admission screening services to individuals with mental illness or co-occurring substance <br />use disorders at the funded CIT Assessment site as soon as practicable following contact <br />with law enforcement personnel. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services <br />awarded $305,949 of on-going CIT Assessment Site funding to the Portsmouth <br />Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services. These funds will be utilized to provide <br />supports and services at the CIT Assessment site. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> <br /> No local match is required as a condition of the funding at this time. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will make the necessary budget adjustment. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Tillage, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING CIT ASSESSMENT SITE FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$305,949 FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND <br />DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY <br />2025 BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE SERVICE FUND FOR USE BY BHS TO PROVIDE <br />DE-ESCALATION AND PRE-ADMISSION SCREENING SERVICES. <br />” <br /> <br />Ayes: Hugel, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Tillage, Whitaker, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />24 - 337 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting substance use disorder and <br />dependence funding in the amount of $167,577.96 from the Virginia Department of <br />Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and appropriating said amount in <br />the FY 2025 Behavioral Healthcare Service Fund Budget for use by BHS to provide <br />treatment and services. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
