In the absence of a code
change, Messrs. Zuraw and Davis with the adoption of the rezoning, could develop a commercial
marina without the dry storage facility.

The Jordan brothers currently berth their ferry/tour boats at their site, and
continue to do so as a non-conforming use, however, I would respectfully suggest
adoption of the amendment permitting such uses would not be conducive to the long
ment of the area in question.

they could
that the
term develop-

This recommendation grants City Council the greatest flexibility to work with the develop-
ers in the neighborhood in order to establish a long range plan to maximize the potential for
the respective sites in the Park View area.'
85-261 Code Amendment:
Cc) CA 85-7 A proposal to amend Section 40-81 of the City Code pertaining to permitted
uses in Waterfront W-1 District, deferred from the regular meeting of
November 12, 1985.

Motion of Mr. Beamer and seconded by Mr. Gray, to approve CA 85-7 on first reading.

Substitute motion of Mr. Whitlow and seconded by Mrs. Webb, to concur in the City
Manager's recommendation, CA 85-7 was denied, and was adopted by the following vote:

Ayes: Beamer, Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Webb, Whitlow, Holley
Nays: Ncne

(~ % 85-27

Rezoning application of David and Stephen Jordan, by Glenn Yates, Jr.,
AIA, Architect, for marina expansion and development on land located on
the north side of Bay Street 318.33 feet west of Elm Avenue from Residen-
tial R-60 to Waterfront W-i, deferred from the regular meeting of
November 12, 1985.

Glenn Yates, 445 Middle Street, representing David 8 Stephen Jordan, asked that the
rezoning be approved

Virl Stokely, 1025 Leckie Street, stated that she would not object to the marina, but
was objecting to a boat storage facility.

Motion of Mr. Whitlow and seconded by seconded by Mrs. Webb, that"Z ~85-27 rezoning for
marina expansion and development on land tocatedon the north side of Bay Street 318.33 feet
wes.t of Elm Avenue from Residential R-60 to Waterfront W-I, the followin~ ordinance was
approved on first reading and was adopted by unanimous vote:

"ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT Z 85-27'

85-241 Rezoning application:

Ca) z 85-33 -

Rezoning application of Walter and Dorothy McDowell, by Michael K.
Davis, Purchaser, for construction of a marina on the north side of
Bay Street west of Armstrong Street, from Residential R-60 to Water-
front W-l, deferred from the regular meeting of November 12, 1985.

Chuck Lawrence, 358 Maryland Avenue, representing
of the rezoning, as there is a great need for as~rv~e~

Red's Marina and self, spoke in favor
facility for boats when coming to the

Duff G.
