<br />$156,000 for renovation of the Circuit Courtroom interiors, the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame
<br />and-Community Arts Center, and addition of the Churchland Library meeting room and award of
<br />Contract.

<br /> "In continuing with the revitalization of Portsmouth and improving community services,
<br />plans have been designed for the long-awaited construction of the Churshland Library meeting
<br />room (base bid , renovation of the Circuit Courtroom (Alternate 11 , and Virginia Sports Hall
<br />of Fame and Community Arts Center (alternate 2) with carpeting (Alternate 2A). The bids
<br />received were as follows:

<br />$44,335 for repairs to Fire Department Ladders.
<br />
<br /> "In the 1985 Capital Improvement Program Budget, the Portsmouth Fire Department included
<br />a request for the repair and refurbishing of aerial ladders and one elevated platform.
<br />Effecting such repairs will prolong the life of existing equipment and insure the safety of
<br />our firefighters.
<br />
<br /> While bids were solicited from seven companies for the repair of the ladders, only one
<br />company (American LaFran:e) responded. The bid for repairs is as follows:

<br /> Repairs to the elevated platform have been completed at a cost of $2,725. Total cost for

<br />Public Works, Engineering, rraffic Engineering, Inspections, and Planning.
