It will also involve
design of a larger portion of the park, much of which had reached the 90% completion stage.
The additional cost to redesign the park, as proposed, is estimated ~by the consultant not to
exceed $67,000. The actual cost will depend on the effect the relocation has on the various
components of the previous design for the park as determined by the final design. The design
· s also based on the assumption that a favorable review will be received from the Army Corps
of Engineers and the Virginia Marine Resources Commission. The consultant has estimated the
total cost of the revised plan at $3,400,000 with the Phase I cost estimated at $2,034,000.
The attached also represents the antic2pated time schedule assuming your approval to proceed
with this plan.

If the Council is ~n agreement with carryin~ our the plans as presented, I recommend
approval be given to extend the design contract with the firm of Langley and McDonald and
appropriation of an additional $67,000 to complete the revised design."

On motion of Mr. ~itlow and seconded by Mr. Beamer, the following ordinance was approved
on first reading; award of contract to Langley and McDonald, as requested, and was adopted
by unanimous vote:

"AN )RDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $67,000.00 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR
ENGINEERING AND DESIGN WORK FOR C[TY PARK.

86-72 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of
$83,000 from the Public Utilities Capital Improvements Program for
merits at the City's Godwin Street Water Booster Pumping Station.

an ordinance to appropriate
design of certain imnrove-

"The study of the Naval Shipyard's Solid Waste Disposal/Steam Plant water demand on the
City!s system is complete.
