<br />WHEREAS
<br />, the City Council for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, desires to
<br />set forth its intention to conduct its public work sessions and additional scheduled
<br />meetings at the times and dates set forth herein for the calendar year 2022; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS
<br />, the City Council for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, desires to
<br />provide for the public advance notice of its intentions to conduct its public meetings
<br />th
<br />in the Council Chamber at 801 Crawford Street, 6 Floor, Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />unless otherwise designated or provided for in a special call or notice subsequently
<br />issued for the benefit of its citizenry and open government.
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
<br /> by the Council of the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that it hereby adopts the Portsmouth City Council 2022
<br />
<br />Calendar of City Council Meetings in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A.”

<br />
<br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Lucas-Burke, to suspend City Council
<br />Rules to allow for speakers on this item, and was adopted by the following vote:

<br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Woodard, Glover
<br />Nays: Whitaker
<br />
<br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Lucas-Burke, to allow public
<br />comment on the appointment of City Attorney, and was adopted by the following vote:

<br /> Motion by Mr. Battle, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to readvertise for the position
<br />of City Attorney for 60 days to receive new applications, and was adopted by the
<br />following vote:

<br />
<br /> Motion by Mr. Battle, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to provide the following:
<br />1. $1000 stipend to police and fire retirees
<br />
<br />2. An additional $500 to employees with proof of vaccination.
<br />
<br />3. $1000 to those employees that have not been vaccinated.

<br /> Councilman Whitaker asked that Councilman Battle withdraw his motion to allow
<br />
<br />City Manager Jones and staff to come back with an analysis on the fiscal impact his
<br />request would have on the city.
<br />
<br /> Councilman Battle withdrew his motion, and Councilman Moody withdrew his
<br />
<br />second, to allow City Manager Jones and staff to come back with an analysis on the
<br />fiscal impact their request would have on the city.
