December 14, 2021 <br /> <br /> <br /> City Manager Jones informed citizens and City Council that she will bring back <br />information on the criteria set for what retirees will be included for a specific time <br />period, along with options and cost of what that looks like for the city. <br /> <br /> Ms. Lucas-Burke informed citizens and City Council of the Celebrate Healthcare It’s <br /> <br />a Family Fair, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the Children’s <br />Museum of Virginia. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Barnes spoke on the following events: <br /> <br /> <br />-Safe Harbor Ribbon Cutting. <br /> <br />-Community and Schools breakfast. <br />th <br /> <br />-4 Annual Christmas Give-Away, Saturday, December 18, 2021, in Dale Homes. <br /> <br /> Mr. Battle wished citizens a happy holiday. <br /> <br /> <br /> Mr. Woodard gave kudos to administration, resource officers, police, and sheriffs for <br /> <br />their handling of a potential threat at I. C. Norcom High School. <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover thanked citizens for taking part in the Christmas celebration. <br /> <br /> <br />21 - 385 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br /> <br /> City Manager Jones informed citizens and City Council of the receipt of a proposal <br />regarding the topographic survey and mapping of Mount Calvary and Lincoln <br />Cemeteries. <br /> <br /> <br /> City Manager Jones informed citizens and City Council of the receipt of 2 proposals <br />for the Disparity Study. <br /> <br />-Councilman Whitaker asked that he be considered to serve as a member of the <br />Minority Contracting Committee which would review request for proposals for the <br />Disparity Study. <br /> There was a majority consensus of City Council to allow Councilman Mark M. <br />o <br />Whitaker to serve on the Minority Contracting Committee. <br /> <br />-Councilwoman Lucas-Burke also asked that she be considered to serve as a <br />member of the Minority Contracting Committee which would review request for <br />proposals for the Disparity Study. <br /> There was a consensus of City Council to allow Councilwoman Lisa L. Lucas- <br />o <br />Burke to serve on the Minority Contracting Committee. <br /> <br /> City Manager Jones informed City Council of the receipt of an unsolicited proposal <br /> <br />which is being reviewed by staff to determine next steps. <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover gave kudos to City Manager Jones and staff for all their hard work. <br /> <br /> <br /> Mr. Battle gave kudos to Robert Moore, Economic Development Director for the work <br /> <br />he’s done in the city. <br /> <br />21 - 386 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. LaToya Battle, 506A Biltmore Place, voiced her concern with the increased violence <br />in her community. <br /> <br />2. Bracey Parr, 11 Afton Parkway, voiced his concern with the increase in crime in <br /> Cradock and offered strategies to help curb the violence in the city. <br /> <br />3. Marjorie Mayfield Jackson, 1141 Victory Boulevard, asked that City Council partner <br /> with the Cradock Civic League to decrease crime in the community. <br /> <br />4. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, P. O. Box 50141, spoke on the importance of eliminating <br /> poverty in the city. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
