This increased the total FY 2021 PPS Grants Fund Budget <br />appropriation to $19,490,538. <br /> <br /> On October 8, 2020, the Portsmouth School Board adopted a Resolution <br />requesting that City Council re-appropriate an additional $8,257,914 that originally had <br />been appropriated to the FY 2020 PPS Grants Fund Budget but was not expended before <br />July 1, 2020. City Council will consider the requested appropriation ordinance as part of <br />the November 10, 2020 agenda. If approved, the ordinance will increase the total FY <br />2021 PPS Grants Fund Budget appropriation to $27,748,452. <br /> <br /> On October 22, 2020, the Portsmouth School Board adopted a Resolution <br />requesting that the City Council appropriate the amount of $7,930,124 in new funding <br />under the federal CARES Act from the Virginia Department of Education. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> <br /> The Portsmouth Public Schools received three allocations of CARES Funds <br />totaling $7,930,124. The breakdown is as follows: <br /> Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds - <br />o <br />$5,351,724; <br /> ESSER and Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) funds - $251,302; <br />o <br />and <br /> Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) - $2,327,098 <br />o <br /> <br /> The following table shows the impact of the proposed appropriation to the FY 2021 <br />PPS Grants Fund: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
