<br />viewers for closing of a portion of Chestnut Street.

<br /> "Mr. Robert L. Turner, Ltd., by attorney L. Cleaves Manning has made application to close
<br />a portmon of Chestnut Street.
<br />
<br /> The attached resolution appoints viewers ~n accordance with applicable State law to view
<br />the portion of such street and to report to the Planning Commission if any inconvenience would
<br />result mn closing that portion of Chestnut Street.
<br />
<br />I, therefore, concur and recommend the adoption of the attached resolution."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Beamer and seconded by Mr. Whitlow, the foll3wing resolution was adopted
<br />and by the following vote:

<br />"A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR CLOSING OF A PORTION OF CHESTNUT STREET.

<br /> WHEREAS, Robert L. Turner, Ltd., by attorney L. Cleaves Manning, has made application to
<br />vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter described portion of Chestnut Street, and it
<br />appearing that notice of application and request for the appointment of viewers has been duly
<br />advertised as required by law.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED )~y'~-21~.-; Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, thai
<br />Richard D. Ottav~o, Albert J. Carr, Howard L. Davis, George N. Powers, Sr., and C. L. Knight
<br />be appointed viewers and that William Choate and Charles R. Hudgins be appointed alternate
<br />viewers in the event one of the preceding viewers fails to participate, said viewers to'view
<br />the hereinafter described portion of such street and to report to this Council in writing
<br />whether in their opinion any, and if any what, inconvenience would result in vacating and
<br />closing the following:

<br /> That certain strip or portion of Chestnut Street as the same is shown upon the
<br />plat of Brighton, duly of record, which said strip is bounded as follows: Beginning
<br />at the southwesc intersection of Chestnut Stree~ and Portsmouth Boulevard (formerly
<br />Gosport Road) as the same are presently constituted and from thence running along
<br />Portsmouth Boulevard N. 78© 08' W a distance of 36.1- feet to an iron pin at the
<br />intersection of Chestnut Street and Gosport Road as the same are shown in the Plat of
<br />Brighton; thence N 2© 50' 80" W along Chestnut Street (as the same is shown in the
<br />Plat of Brighton) a distance of 147.43 feet to an iron pin at the northeast corner of
<br />Lot 15 in Block 89 as shown on said plat of Brighton; thence S 87° 04' 07" E s
<br />distance of 34.65 feet to a point in the westerly line of the right-of-way of Chestnut
<br />Street as the same is presently constituted and thence S 2© 26' 38" W a distance of
<br />153.06 to the point of beginning."
