September 8, 2020 <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Battle, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING $22,590.90 OF FEDERAL ASSET FORFEITURE FUNDS <br />RECEIVED FROM THE UNITED STATES DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION <br />AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2021 SHERIFF’S ASSET <br />FORFEITURE FUND FOR USE BY THE PORTSMOUTH SHERIFF’S OFFICE.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Battle, Clark, Glover, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />20 - 209 - Adoption of an ordinance to accept $91,523.26 received via the Circuit <br />and General District Courts and to appropriate said amount in the FY 2021 General <br />Fund Budget for use by the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office for items needed to support <br />the Training Academy. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The Portsmouth Sheriff's Office receives a fee from Circuit Court and General <br />District Court for use by the Sheriff's Office Training Academy, pursuant to State Code <br /> <br />Section 9.1-106. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> The funding allows the Sheriff's Office to purchase needed items to support the <br />Sheriff's Office Training Academy.
