<br /> 86-241 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance to amend the
<br />City Code to implement the Enterprise Zone expansion.
<br />
<br /> On June 23, 1986, the State approved the City's application to expand our Enterprise Zone
<br />to include Census Tract 121 and the former Coast Guard Base. (See attached map~) I believe
<br />that this expansion will have a very positive impact on the development of PortCentre Commerce
<br />Park.
<br />
<br /> The City Attorney has prepared the City Code amendments needed to implement the Zone ex-
<br />pansion. The proposed amendments are attached and I recommend their approval."

<br /> 86-242 - Letter from the City Manager redommending adoption of an ordinance to amend the
<br />City Code by amending Article II, Chapter 12, pertaining to fire prevention.
<br />
<br /> "In the 1986 Session of the General Assembly legislation was adopted which authorized the
<br />State Fire Marshall's Office to conduct statewide hearings and administratively implement the
<br />Building Officials and Code Administrators (BOCA) Fire Prevention Code. This enactment will
<br />create a uniform fire prevention code throughout the State. Inasmuch as our current fire pre-
<br />vention code does not include BOCA standards, this City is required to amend the existing code
<br />to comply with the mandate of the General Assembly.
<br />
<br /> The City Attorney and Fire Chief have reviewed the BOCA Fire Prevention Code and concur
<br />with its adoption. Accordingly, I recommend that you approve the attached ordinance in order
<br />to bring the City Code into compliance with the State Code."

<br /> "Application has been made by Restaurants Internationale, Inc., and James C. Waters and
<br />Mary C. Waters, by Attorney Claude M. Scialdone, to close an unimproved street on the north
<br />side of West Norfolk Road. I recommend adoption of the resolution to appoint viewers for this
<br />application."

<br />THE NORTH SIDE OF WEST NORFOLK ROAD.

<br />made application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter-described portin of a certai~
<br /> unnamed unimproved street on the north side of West Norfolk Road, and it appearing that notice
<br /> of application and advertised as required by law.

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that
<br />Waldo Davis, William Choate, James H. Griffin, Howard L. Davis and Albert J. Carr be appointed
<br />viewers and that Robert Reed and James Moss be appointed alternate viewers in the event one of
<br />the preceding viewers fails to participate, said viewers to view the hereinafter-described
