REPORTS FROM THE CITY MANAGER

86-260 Letter from the City Manager recommending
$76,~000 and award of a contract for the replacement and
Roof.

approvaI of an ordinance appropriating
repair of the Vehicle Service Center

"~he 1985 Capital Improvemen~ Budget authorized funding for roof replacement and repairs
to municipal facilities. For the current year, the Vehicle Service Center's roof was identifi
as the highest priority. A new 150 linear foot aluminum fool is to be installed with proper
flashings and fasteners. All gutters and conductor pipes on the entire building with the
exclusion of the body shop are to be included.

The project was advertised an~ bid and the responsible sole bidder was Roof-Tech, Inc.,
o~ Virginia Beach with a bid of $71,000. The Director of General Services has investigated
Roof~Tech, Inc., regarding qualifications, work performance and £inancial status, and he
recommends award of this contract to the sole bidder. According to the Cit)'s Purchasing
Agent, Roof~Tech, Inc. was the responsible low bidder for the Joseph E. Parker Center roof
repair project which is currently underway. The total project cost is $76,000 which includes
a ~% contingency.

I, therefore, recommend appropriation of $76,000 and award of the contract to Roof-Tech, !nc.
