Voters registered in the precinct will be <br /> <br />notified of the change as required by Virginia Code §24.2-306. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The General Registrar/Director of Elections will notify voters by mail of the new <br /> <br />precinct location in a timely manner and will advertise the change in the local newspaper. <br /> <br />1. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, P. O. Box 50141, spoke in opposition to the abandonment <br /> of Willett Hall. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Ms. Lucas-Burke, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 10-107 OF CHAPTER 10 OF THE CODE OF THE <br />CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (2006), AS AMENDED, TO CHANGE THE <br />VOTING LOCATION FOR PRECINCT NUMBER 24 FROM WILLETT HALL TO THE <br />SENIOR STATION, LOCATED AT 3500 CLIFFORD STREET, AND TO FORMALLY <br />CHANGE THE NAME OF PRECINCT NUMBER 24 TO “THE SENIOR STATION”.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Smith, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />18 - 463 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a Kids Meals Program grant in the <br />amount of $693,044.10 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Child and Adult <br />Care Food Program administered through the Virginia Department of Education <br />and appropriating said funds in the FY 2019 Grants Fund for use by the Department <br />of Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services to provide meals and snacks authorized <br />under the Kids Meals Program. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The City of Portsmouth has received a reimbursement grant through the Virginia <br />Department of Education and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the <br />Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Kids Meals Program, effective September <br />2018 and administered by the Department of Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Kids Meals Program for 2018- <br />2019 school year will include an evening snack and dinner meal at three (3) Recreation <br />Center sites and six (6) Elementary 6 TO SIX After School Care sites, one (1) Elementary <br />st <br />21 Century site, three (3) Middle Schools, one (1) Day Treatment program, four (4) <br />private community organizations and one (1) High School. <br /> <br /> <br /> It is estimatedthat the program will serve 326 snacks and 1,271 dinners daily. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> <br /> There is no City cash match required. The grant is a total reimbursement grant <br />based on the number of meals served. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will make the necessary budgetary adjustments. <br /> <br />1.
