- City Manager’s Report -

18 - 217 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting adoption assistance funds in the
amount of $64,735 from the Virginia Department of Social Services and
appropriating said amount in the FY 2018 Social Services Fund for use by the
Department of Social Services to provide adoption assistance.

Background:

The purpose of adoption assistance is to facilitate adoptive placements and ensure
permanency for children with special needs. Many of these children have experienced
traumatic events that have increased their risk for developmental, physical, emotional,
and/or behavioral challenges.
