S. Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Emergency <br />Management Agency (FEMA) provides the Emergency Management Performance Grant. <br />This grant provides federal funds to states to assist in preparing for all hazards, as <br />authorized by the Post Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act and the Robert T. <br />Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. <br /> <br /> The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), through its <br />Supplemental Local Emergency Management Performance (SLEMPG) Grant Program, <br />provides funding to cities, counties, and towns to support local emergency management <br />programs with priorities on projects for: mass causality equipment/supplies; mass care <br />equipment/supplies; public alert, warning and notification systems; civil disturbance joint <br />planning, training, or equipment; or CBRNE/Hazmat equipment. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> The City applied for a grant from the Virginia Department of Emergency <br />Management to help fund the purchase, installation, and maintenance of flood sensors. <br /> <br /> The flood sensor system includes thirteen ultrasound sensors and two central <br />gateways. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
