November 10, 1986 86-415 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption motion to refund $30.94 (with interest) to James R. and M~ri~o~ Spacek for Rea~ Estate Taxes. "The City Assessor is requesting that a refund of $30.D4, plus inter.est, be paid to Mr. James R. and Marilon F. Spacek who reside at 3608 Gentle Road, Portsmouth, Virginia 23703. The refund is for Real Estate Taxes assessed and paid in error for the fiscal year 1985-86. The referenced property was assessed as having a completed living area over the attached garage when, in fact, the space is unfinished. This error has been corrected and current taxes have been abated accordingly. I recommend that Council adopt this motion and a rerun8 be granted with interest.' Joannou who resides at 408 Sycamore Road, Portsmouth, Virginia 23707. The refund is for Real Estate Taxes assessed and paid iin error for the fiscal year 1985-86. The referenced property was a:ssessed as condominium units for 1985-86 when in actuality, no condlominium documents had been recorded in the Clerk's office of the Ci:rcuit Court. Mr. Joannou has informed the Assessor that these units will be townhouses rather than condominiums. This error has been corrected and current taxes have been abated accordingly. I recommend that Council adopt this action and a refun:d be granted with interest.' Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Simpson, that authori zation be granted for the refund, as requested, and was adopted by unanimous vote. C6-0) 86-417 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption a resolution scheduling a public conference to be held with~ t~e Portsmouth delegation to the General Assembly of Virginia a% the Briefing Center, 3~d Floor, Central Fidelity Bank Building,: on November 12, 1986, at 6:30 P.M. of "Arrangements have been made with the members of delegation to the General Assembly to review the City agenda on Wednesday, November 12, 1~86, at 6:30 P.M., Center, Central Fidelity Bank Building. the P~ortsmoutl legis%ative in t~e Briefi~ I recommend adoption of the resolution on your agenda ~tonight to establish the schedule for this public conference."
