Violation of any of the above conditions may <br />serve as grounds for revocation of the use permit by City Council.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- City Manager’s Report - <br /> <br />17 - 269 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $5,000 from <br />the Virginia Tourism Corporation and appropriating said amount in the FY 2018 <br />Grants Fund for a marketing campaign to publicize an exhibition at the Portsmouth <br />Art & Cultural Center titled “To Face the Unknown: Portsmouth and the Great War”. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The City applied for and won a grant from the Virginia Tourism Corporation and <br />the Virginia World War I and World War II Commemoration Commission to conduct a <br />tourism marketing campaign to publicize a special exhibition at the Portsmouth Art & <br />Cultural Center on July 4 through October 9, 2017 titled “To Face the Unknown: <br />Portsmouth and the Great War.” The marketing campaign will include print advertising, <br />website pages, a brochure and social media communication. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> The $5,000 grant provides one-half of the cost of the $10,000 marketing campaign. <br />The City is required to pay the full cost of the marketing campaign and to later submit a <br />report to the Virginia Tourism Corporation documenting how the $10,000 was spent. <br />Following its review and approval, the Virginia Tourism Corporation will send the City a <br />check for the $5,000 grant amount. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> <br /> The grant award amount is $5,000 for FY 18. <br /> <br /> The grant requires a minimum of a $1:$1 match by the City. <br /> <br /> A report on the marketing campaign’s spending will be submitted to the Virginia <br />Tourism Corporation and the $5,000 in grant funds will be sent to the City. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br /> <br /> Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate the $5,000 grant from the Virginia World <br />War I and World War II Tourism Marketing Program. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will make the necessary budget adjustment.
