February 14, 2017 <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />17 - 80 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting an allocation of $37,405 from the <br />Virginia Technology Trust Fund and appropriating said amount in the FY 2017 <br />Grants Fund for use by the Portsmouth Circuit Court Clerk’s Office to fund <br />technology improvements. <br />Vision Principles: Innovation and Change, Efficient <br />Service Delivery and Pride of Past. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> This Technology Trust Fund (TTF), is a $5.00 fee assessed by the Clerk of each <br />Circuit Court on each civil action, each instrument recorded in the deed books and on <br />each judgment docketed. The purpose of these funds are to develop and update <br />individual land record automation plans, implement automation plans to modernize land <br />records and to provide secure remote access. TTF may be used to obtain and update <br />office automation and information equipment including software and conversion services, <br />preserving, maintaining and enhancing court records and improving public access to court <br />records. The Technology Trust Fund is authorized by Virginia Code §17.1-279. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> The Clerk of Circuit Court utilizes these funds for the purposes stated in Virginia <br />Code §17.1-279. <br /> <br />Financial impact: <br /> <br /> There is no local cash match required. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> Adoption of ordinance.
