<br /> Mr. Yanofchick was living ~n Hanover, Virginia, on Janaary 1,
<br />1986. He paid personal property taxes for the full year there.
<br />~e was billed in error for taxes in the City of Portsmouth; therefo~
<br />a refund of $293.06, with interest, is requested.
<br />
<br /> I recommend that Council adopt this motion and a refund be
<br />granted."

<br />a motion ~o trans[er $46,000 from the Grants Contingency Fund ~o
<br />the Fire Department.
<br />
<br /> 'With the adoption of the 1986-87 budget, $68,676 was amitici-
<br />~ated to come from the State as revenue to the City to provide fire
<br />~rotecti~e equipment, gear, and training. The line items in the
<br />~udget of the Fire Department included a like amo~n~ of antieipated
<br />expenditures.
<br />
<br /> We have now received the funds. However, only $46,000 was
<br />received instead of the anticipated $68,676. In addition, we
<br />received regulations from the Virginia Fire Board last week, which
<br />possibly could construe that the anticipated funds should not ha~e
<br />been included in the budget.
<br />
<br /> Therefore, it ~s recommended that City Council adopt a motion
<br />transferring $46,000 from the Grants Contigency Fund to the Fire
<br />Department."
