Vision Principles: Sustainable Neighborhoods, <br />Enhanced Quality of Life, and Efficient Service Delivery. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> Finance will complete the necessary budgetary adjustments. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $62,963 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING SAID <br />AMOUNT IN THE FY 2017 SOCIAL SERVICES FUND FOR USE BY THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE FINAL <br />TRANSITIONING OF ALL CLIENT CASES TO THE VIRGINIA CASE MANAGEMENT <br />SYSTEM.” <br /> <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />16 - 373 - Adoption of an ordinance to amend Article III of Chapter 36 of the Code <br />of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (2006) (Tree Planting and Replacement) by <br />amending and reordaining subsections 36-52(1), (3) and (4), Section 36-56, and <br />Table 36.1 for the purposes of correcting certain references to the Zoning <br />Ordinance, the Subdivision Ordinance, and other governing documents, and <br />designating the Board of Zoning Appeals as the venue for appeals of <br />determinations made under the Article. <br /> Vision Principles:Sustainable <br /> <br />Neighborhoods, Enhanced Quality of Life, and Efficient Service Delivery. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The Zoning Ordinance was updated in 2010 which resulted in changes to the <br /> <br />zoning districts. <br /> <br /> The Tree Planting and Replacement Ordinance uses the zoning districts to <br /> <br />determine the requirements for tree planting. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> In the current Zoning Ordinance, several of the old zoning districts were <br />consolidated under a single new zone. Some of the old zones were deleted entirely. Some <br /> <br />new ones were added. <br /> <br /> <br /> The proposed changes reconcile the requirements in Table 36.1 with the changes. <br /> <br /> The proposed changes update the references to the subdivision ordinance and the <br /> <br />zoning ordinance with the current section numbers. <br /> <br /> The proposed changes update the reference documents for selecting approved <br /> <br />trees and delete documents that are no longer available. <br /> <br /> The proposed changes make the Board of Zoning Appeals the authority that can <br /> <br />hear appeals. <br /> <br /> <br /> The regulatory requirements for the respective zones remain unchanged. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> It is anticipated that there will be no additional costs related to these changes. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the amended ordinance.
