Vision Principles: Quality of Life and Lifelong Learning <br />Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> School Board approval of revised Schools Budget. <br /> <br /> Finance will complete the necessary budget adjustments. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Meeks, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE THE SUM OF $1,554,092 IN THE INSTRUCTION <br />CLASSIFICATION OF THE OVERALL AND FIRST QUARTER FY 2017 TEXTBOOK <br />FUND BUDGET FOR THE PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />16 - 252 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting $33,081.42 of Federal Asset <br />Forfeiture Funds received from the United States Drug Enforcement <br />Administration and appropriating said amount in the FY 2017 Asset Forfeiture <br />Fund for use by the Sheriff’s Office. <br />Vision Principle: Efficient Service Delivery. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The Portsmouth Sheriff's Office receives Federal Asset Forfeiture Funds from the <br /> <br />DEA. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> Allows the Sheriff's Office to purchase law enforcement equipment, donate funds <br />to the Drug Court, make improvements to the Jail, purchase computer equipment, <br />purchase anti-drug coloring books and crayons for school kids, and other items <br /> <br />necessary within the guidelines set forth in the Equitable Sharing Guide. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> There is no negative financial impact incurred by the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br /> <br /> Adoption of an ordinance to accept and appropriate and authorize expenditure of <br />$33,081.42 in Federal Asset Forfeiture funds. Vision Principle: Efficient Service <br />Delivery. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The Sheriff or his designee will provide asset forfeiture management and <br /> <br />oversight. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Meeks, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING $33,081.42 OF FEDERAL ASSET FORFEITURE FUNDS <br />RECEIVED FROM THE UNITED STATES DRUG ENFORCEMENT <br />ADMINISTRATION AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2017 ASSET <br />FORFEITURE FUND FOR USE BY THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
