Simpson, that the <br />latter be tabled, and was adopted by unanimous vote (5~0). <br /> <br /> 87-30 - The following ordinance deferred at the regular meetin <br />~f February 10, 1987, was taken up and read: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF A TEN FOOT ALLEY EAST <br />OF PENINSULA AVENUE.' <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, that the <br /> be tabled, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />87-48 The following resolution deferred from the regular <br />g of February 10, 1987, was taken up and read: <br /> <br /> 'A RESOLUTION APPOINTING <br />PORTION OF FIFTH AVENUE <br />STREET." <br /> <br /> VIEWERS FOR THE CLOSING OF A <br />(JAMESTOWN AVENUE) NORTH OF ANN <br /> <br />Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, that the <br /> be tabled, and was adopted by unanimous vo~e (5-0[ . <br /> <br />REPORTS FROM THE CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />87-83 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />resolution appointing viewers for a closing of a portion of Churcl <br /> Boulevard. <br /> <br /> "Churchland Shopping' Center Associates has made application to <br />zlose a portion of C~chta~d.Boulevard in order to provide for <br /> otential expansion of the existing shopping center. The notice of <br /> ~lication and request for appointment of viewers has been duly <br />~dvertised as required by law. <br /> <br /> As you are aware, we are presently in the process of receiving <br />proposals for potential development of the existing Churchland High <br />~chool site across the street from the present shopping center. <br /> I would recommend deferral of the appointment of viewers <br /> this application to the Council meeting of June 9, 1987, in <br /> to evaluate the entire development of this area." <br /> <br />Gordon Tayloe, Attorney, Central Fidelity Bank BUilding, <br />representing Churchland Shopping Center Associates, was available <br /> answer any questions. <br /> <br />On motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, the follo~ <br />resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR A CLOSING OF A PORTION <br />OF CHURCHLAND BOULEVARD. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Churchland Shopping Center Associates has made appli- <br /> ion to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter described <br /> of Churchland Boulevard, and it appearing that notice of <br />~plication and request for appointment of viewers has been duly <br />dvertised as required by law. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />'ortsmouth, Virginia, that Richard D. Ottavio, Simon P. Arrington, <br />~obert McCurdy, James B. McGee and Richard Tweed be appointed viewe: <br /> that Emerson Smith and Howard L. Davis be appointed alternative <br />~iewers in the event that one of ~he preceding viewers fails to <br />~articipate, said viewers to view the hereinafter described portion <br />~f such street and to report to this Council in writing whether in <br />:heir opinion any, and if any what, inconvenience would result from <br />~acating and closing the following: <br /> <br /> <br />
