LAWRENCE STADIUM." <br /> <br /> 87-108 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to appropriate $305,750 from the Public Utilities <br />Capital Improvement Fund for PortCentre and award of contract for <br />the Harrison Street Pump Station to the responsive, low bidder. <br /> <br />"As you recall, in January of this year I submitted to you a <br />request to appropriate $1,200,000 for construction of Phase I of thc <br /> improvements for PortCentre. This work is currently underway <br />City Engineer, as part of Phase I, bid separately the Harrison <br />Street Sewer Pump Station in an effort to secure a more competitive <br /> for this component of the work. The bids for the pump statio~ <br />ppened on March 12, 1987 and the iow bid was 20% less than what <br />was estimated (see attached bid tabulation). The low bidder, <br />Woodington Corporation, has successfully completed work in the City <br />and has indicated that the work can be completed within the require~ <br />180 day period. The total anticipated project cost is as follows: <br /> <br />Construction Contract (Woodington Corporation) <br />Contingencies <br />Contract Administration g Inspectmon <br />Connection to Virginia Power Utilities <br /> <br />$175,000 <br /> 23,000 <br /> 12,000 <br /> 30,000 <br /> <br />TOTAL ANTICIPATED PROJECT COST <br /> <br />$240,000 <br /> <br />Because of the private sector interest in PortCente, the <br />~irector of Economic Development has recommended that we oroceed <br />with Phase I lands6aping and street overlay ($65,750). As such, <br />the total amount requested is as follows: <br /> <br />Harrison Street Pump Station $240,000 <br />Street Overlay Phase I 40,750 <br />Landscaping Phase I 25,000 <br /> ~0~,000 <br /> <br /> The Capital Improvement fund has adequate authorization from <br />current and past programs to fund this request ($305,759). As such <br />I am recommending that City Council appropriate $305,750 from the <br />CIP and award of the contract for the pump station to Woodington <br />Corporation. <br /> <br />City Council's favorablerconsideration is requested." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, the followin <br />ordinance was approved on first reading; award of contract no <br />Woodington Corporation, being responsive, low bidder, and was <br />adopted by unanimous vote (S-0): <br /> <br /> <br />
