December 9, 2014 Next Steps following City Council Action: • The City Clerk will post the 2015 Meeting Calendar on the City's webpage and provide to the general public. Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Meeks, to adopt a motion accepting the 2015 Calendar of City Council Meetings, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright Nays: None - New Business - 14 - 475 - Boards and Commissions Mr. Moody offered the following nominations: Economic Development Authority Anthony Hinds to be appointed to a term ending December 31, 2017, replacing Robert Beaman. Miriam Jiggetts to be appointed to a term ending December 31, 2018, replacing Charles Hunter. Planning Commission Preston Vaughan to be appointed to a term ending December 31, 2015, replacing Kenneth Pugh. Albert Williams to be appointed to a term ending December 31, 2018, replacing James Ellis. Portsmouth Port & Industrial Commission James Toups to be appointed to a term ending December 31, 2017, replacing James Jewell. Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Cherry, to close nominations, and the above nominations were adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright Nays: None 14 - 476 - Items Submitted by Council Members • Adoption of a resolution requesting the General Assembly of Virginia to amend the Charter of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia. Motion by Mr. Meeks, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF VIRGINIA TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: That the General Assembly of Virginia is hereby requested to amend the Charter of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, by amending Section 3.03 c. and by repealing Section 3.03 d. thereof as follows: Section 3.03. Election of mayor and members of city council.
