December 9, 2014 14 -472 (a): 1. Mark Geduldig - Yatrofsky, P. O. Box 50141, asked that City Council vote on the casino gambling item separately. Motion by Mr. Meeks, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY'S 2015 GENERAL ASSEMBLY LEGISLATIVE PACKAGE. WHEREAS, the Virginia General Assembly deals with a broad range of issues that affect local government both directly and indirectly; and WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns that deal with both Portsmouth specifically and local governments in general; and WHEREAS, these concerns need to be made known to Portsmouth's General Assembly delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the Legislature. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that it hereby endorses the attached legislative proposals for the 2015 General Assembly session. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is directed to provide a copy of the 2015 Legislative Package to each member of the City's Virginia General Assembly delegation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager and /or his designee(s) are hereby authorized and directed to provide necessary input and clarification during the 2015 Virginia General Assembly session and to carry out other activities as needed to assist in attaining the goals and objectives contained in the City's 2015 Legislative Package." Ayes: Cherry, Meeks, Moody, Psimas Nays: Randall, Wright 14 -472 (b): Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Meeks, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY'S 2015 FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE AGENDA PACKAGE FOR THE 114th CONGRESS. WHEREAS, the United States Congress deals with a broad range of issues that affect local government both directly and indirectly; and WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns that deal with both Portsmouth specifically and local governments in general; and WHEREAS, these concerns need to be made known to Portsmouth's congressional delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the Senate and the House of Representatives. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that it endorses the attached 2015 Federal Legislative Agenda Package for consideration by the 114th Congress and directs that both this resolution and the Council's endorsed 2015 Federal Legislative Agenda Package be forwarded to the City's congressional representatives.
