December 9, 2014 <br />14 -472 (a): <br />1. Mark Geduldig - Yatrofsky, P. O. Box 50141, asked that City Council vote on the <br />casino gambling item separately. <br />Motion by Mr. Meeks, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br />"RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY'S 2015 GENERAL ASSEMBLY <br />LEGISLATIVE PACKAGE. <br />WHEREAS, the Virginia General Assembly deals with a broad range of issues <br />that affect local government both directly and indirectly; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns that deal with both <br />Portsmouth specifically and local governments in general; and <br />WHEREAS, these concerns need to be made known to Portsmouth's General <br />Assembly delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the <br />Legislature. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that it hereby endorses the attached legislative proposals for the <br />2015 General Assembly session. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is directed to provide a copy <br />of the 2015 Legislative Package to each member of the City's Virginia General <br />Assembly delegation. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager and /or his designee(s) are <br />hereby authorized and directed to provide necessary input and clarification during the <br />2015 Virginia General Assembly session and to carry out other activities as needed to <br />assist in attaining the goals and objectives contained in the City's 2015 Legislative <br />Package." <br />Ayes: Cherry, Meeks, Moody, Psimas <br />Nays: Randall, Wright <br />14 -472 (b): <br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Meeks, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br />"RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY'S 2015 FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE AGENDA <br />PACKAGE FOR THE 114th CONGRESS. <br />WHEREAS, the United States Congress deals with a broad range of issues that <br />affect local government both directly and indirectly; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns that deal with both <br />Portsmouth specifically and local governments in general; and <br />WHEREAS, these concerns need to be made known to Portsmouth's <br />congressional delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the <br />Senate and the House of Representatives. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that it endorses the attached 2015 Federal Legislative Agenda <br />Package for consideration by the 114th Congress and directs that both this resolution <br />and the Council's endorsed 2015 Federal Legislative Agenda Package be forwarded to <br />the City's congressional representatives. <br />
