November 25, 2014
Discussion:
• This grant allows for the purchase of necessary equipment and supplies in
support of the Portsmouth Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services (PFRES) to purchase
hydraulic lift system for patient stretchers.
• This funding source also allows for the training of EMS Field Training Officers
(FTO) for PFRES personnel.
Financial Impact:
• The following table shows the total cost for the equipment and training for this
grant:
Description
Reimbursement
Hydraulic Lift System (2)
Employee Training
Total Cost
Cost City Match State
$ 52, 895.56 $ 26,447.78 $ 23, 500.00
$ 12,000.00 $ 2,400.00 $ 9,600.00
$ 64,895.56 $ 28,847.78 $ 33,100.00
• The grant requires a 50% match for the hydraulic lift systems and a 20% match
for the employee training. The local match requirement is already appropriated as part
of the FY 2015 Budget for the Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services Department;
therefore, only the State portion of the grant totaling $33,100 needs appropriation.
Recommended Action:
• Adoption of the ordinance.
