Wilderson, 3000 Acres Circle, Portsmouth, Virginia, 23703, $134 <br />(without interest) for unused portion of 1986 Business License, <br />was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 87-145 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />a motion to transmit the City Treasurer's letter dated March 19, <br />1987, submitting a listing of Delinquent Personal Property Taxes fo~ <br />Fiscal Year 1986. <br /> <br /> "Transmitted herewith is a letter from Mr. Charles B. Whitehur~ <br />City Treasurer, submitting to City Council a list of Delinquent <br />Personal Property Taxes for the taxable year 1986. <br /> <br />Also enclosed is a report showing statistical data related to <br />)ersonal property taxes for the past five years, which was prepared <br /> the Department of Finance. <br /> <br /> A copy of the printout listing Delinquent 1986 Personal Proper~ <br />Taxes is available in the City Clerk's Office for Counsil's use. <br />Also, a copy has been placed in the City's Public Library for rev~e~ <br />by the public." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, that t~e <br />report be received as information, and was adopted by unanimous <br />vote. <br /> <br /> 87-146 Letter from the City Manager recommending an appropri <br />tion of $525,000 in the School Operating Fund for 15 new school <br />buses. <br /> <br /> "fho Superintendent of Schools has notified me of a critical <br />situation concerning the replacement of school buses. He has <br />indicated that 15 school bus~'~ to be replaced as~soon as <br />possible, and estimates a savings between 8 and 12 percent if they <br />are ordered this year. A copy of Dr. Edwards' memorandum is <br />enclosed for your information. <br /> <br /> Dr. Edwards has also indicated to me that revenues are <br />expected to exceed budget estimates in the School Operating <br />during this fiscal year. Therefore, sufficient funds will be <br />able in the School Operating Fund to purchase 15 buses. However, <br />for these funds to be expended, an appropriation by the City Counci <br />is necessary in the amount of $525,000. <br /> <br /> Therefore, I recommend that the Council appropriate $525,000 <br />n the School Operating Fund." <br /> <br /> <br />
