Box 7325 Portsmouth, VA 23703 b.) 2134.20 to Cheryl A. Wilkerson ~00 Acres Circle Portsmouth, VA 23703 I recommend that Council adopt this motion and the refunds 0e granted." Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb, that authorizati be granted to refund to Visions Investments, Inc. P. O. Box 7325, Portsmouth, Virginia 23703, ~504.07 (without interest) and Cheryl A. Wilderson, 3000 Acres Circle, Portsmouth, Virginia, 23703, $134 (without interest) for unused portion of 1986 Business License, was adopted by unanimous vote. 87-145 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a motion to transmit the City Treasurer's letter dated March 19, 1987, submitting a listing of Delinquent Personal Property Taxes fo~ Fiscal Year 1986. "Transmitted herewith is a letter from Mr. Charles B. Whitehur~ City Treasurer, submitting to City Council a list of Delinquent Personal Property Taxes for the taxable year 1986. Also enclosed is a report showing statistical data related to )ersonal property taxes for the past five years, which was prepared the Department of Finance. A copy of the printout listing Delinquent 1986 Personal Proper~ Taxes is available in the City Clerk's Office for Counsil's use. Also, a copy has been placed in the City's Public Library for rev~e~ by the public." Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, that t~e report be received as information, and was adopted by unanimous vote. 87-146 Letter from the City Manager recommending an appropri tion of $525,000 in the School Operating Fund for 15 new school buses. "fho Superintendent of Schools has notified me of a critical situation concerning the replacement of school buses. He has indicated that 15 school bus~'~ to be replaced as~soon as possible, and estimates a savings between 8 and 12 percent if they are ordered this year. A copy of Dr. Edwards' memorandum is enclosed for your information. Dr. Edwards has also indicated to me that revenues are expected to exceed budget estimates in the School Operating during this fiscal year. Therefore, sufficient funds will be able in the School Operating Fund to purchase 15 buses. However, for these funds to be expended, an appropriation by the City Counci is necessary in the amount of $525,000. Therefore, I recommend that the Council appropriate $525,000 n the School Operating Fund."
