June 10, 2014 Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright Nays: None (c) CA-14-01 DOWNTOWN, D1 DISTRICT- Proposal to amend Section 40.1-9.7. Parking of Appendix A pertaining to the Downtown (D1) district and 1 Part 7. Parking and Loading Standards, 703. Scope of Regulations H. pertaining to the Uptown (D2) District Form Based Code to modify the parking requirements for properties in the T4, T5, and T6 sub-districts of the Downtown (D1) district. This amendment will apply the same parking standards to all properties north of Interstate 264 in the Downtown (D1) district. Vision Principle: Efficient Responsive Government. 1. Motion by Mr. Edmonds, and seconded by Mr. Meeks, to concur with the recommendation of the Planning Commission that CA-14-01 be approved, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright Nays: None (d) SNC-14-01 WESTBURY- Ordinance granting the request of Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority for a street name change in the Westbury development. The request is to change Sean Sykes Avenue to Shawn Sykes Avenue to accurately reflect the historical spelling of the name. This change would apply to those properties fronting on Sean Sykes Avenue from Columbia Street to Godwin Street. Vision Principle: A Robust Economy for Working Men and Women. There were no speakers. Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Meeks, adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE NAME OF SEAN SYKES AVENUE TO SHAWN SYKES AVENUE." Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright Nays: None (e) S-14-02 DOWNTOWN- Ordinance granting a request of George Willson, Esq. City Attorney, for the closure of a ten (10) foot wide alley located on the south side of the 1800 block of King Street, just east of Yorktown Avenue. This alley is 105 feet long and adjoins the west side of the parcel addressed as 1815 King Street. This request is being made to consolidate lots for the new Behavior Healthcare Services Building located on the northeast corner of Yorktown Avenue and County Street. Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Meeks, adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE TO CLOSE A TEN FOOT WIDE ALLEY LOCATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE 1800 BLOCK OF KING STREET." Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright Nays: None
