March 11, 2014 Motion by Mr. Edmonds, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A TOURING ASSISTANCE GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,550 FROM THE VIRGINIA COMMISSION FOR THE ARTS AND FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,550 FROM THE THOMSON FAMILY FOUNDATION OF MINNESOTA AND APPROPRIATING $3,100 IN THE FY 2013-14 GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE PORTSMOUTH MUSEUMS TO FUND MUSICAL PERFORMANCES AT THE PORTSMOUTH ART & CULTURAL CENTER." Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright Nays: None 14 - 98 -Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $4,590 awarded to the Clerk of the Circuit Court by the Library of Virginia and appropriating said sum in the FY 2013-14 Grants Fund. Vision Principles: Pride of Past and Efficient, Responsive Government. Background: • This project would preserve the original plats and extend their useful life. The preservation would minimize the chemical and physical deterioration of the pages and prevent the loss of text. These volumes contain the earliest plats recorded for neighborhoods in the City of Portsmouth. The four volumes for this map book are digitally imaged and available on the Secure Remote Access as a part of the Logan System. All plats for this office may be accessed via Secure Remote Access as a part of the Logan System. Discussion: • The Clerk of Circuit Court has agreed to all of the services and reports required by this grant. Financial impact: • There is no local cash match required. Recommended Action: • Adoption of proposed ordinance. Vision Principles: Pride of Past and Efficient, Responsive Government. Next Steps Following Council Action: • Clerk of the Circuit Court will review vendor's work to assure accuracy of indexes and images. If work is satisfactory, then this office will authorize payment of vendor for services. Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright Nays: None 14 - 99 -Adoption of a resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to approve an addition to the streets in the City of Portsmouth for the purpose of increasing Municipal Assistance payments to the City. Background: • VDOT maintains an inventory of City of Portsmouth streets that is used to calculate VDOT's annual street maintenance payments to the City.
