June 23, 1987 87-254 - The following ordinance approved on first reading at the regular meeting of June 9, 198-, was taken up and read: "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $100,000. FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CHARLES PEETE LITTLE LEAGUE RECREATION FACILITY." On motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Corprew, the ordinance was adopted on final reading, and by the following vote: Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Webb, Holley Nays: S~m~son 87-165 Amendment to the City Code: (d) CA 87-4 CODE AMENDMEN~ A proposal to amend Section 40-288 and a0-290 of the City Code pertainin to above ground signs in the Downtown D-2 zoning district, deferred from the Public Hearing of April 28, 1987. Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, to defer the matter to the meeting of October 27, 1987. Substitute motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, the matter be referred to the Planning Commission for further consideration, and was adopted by unanimous vote. tha~ REPOR%S FROM THE CITY MANAGER 87-274 Letter from the City Manager rec3mmending adootion an ordinance to amend Chapter 32 of the City Code by amending Sections 32-107 and 32-113 pertaining to assessments for improve- ments. of "During their recently concluded session, the General Assembly enacted a change mn the State Code which will require the City to change Chapter 32 of the City Code on the subject of bills for assessments for improvements to curbs, gutters, etc. Attached hereto is a proposed ordinance which I recommend that you adopt to reflect these State-manda%ed changes." "Reubin Manning has made application to close a portion of Lane Place between the eastern boundary of Butler Street and the eastern terminus of Lane Place and between the western right-of~way of Butler Street and the eastern right=of-way of Williams Street. The viewers report and ~lanning ~ Commlssmon recommend closure of only that portion Of Lane~Place East of Butler Street. I recommend adoption of the ordinance closing Lane Place from Butler Street east to the eastern terminus of Lane Place.
