<br /> At a regular meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday,
<br />June 23, 1987, there were present:

<br /> Rev. Tom Potter, Pastor of Pinecrest Baptist Church, opened th
<br />meeting with prayer, followed by the Pledge 6f Allegiance to the
<br />Flag.
<br />
<br /> Motion Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Gray, minutes of the
<br />called meeting of June 8, 1987; called meeting of June 9, 1987;
<br />and the regular meeting of June 9, 1987, to be approved as received
<br />and was adopted by unanimous vote.
<br />
<br />Mayor Holley welcomed all vistors in attendance.
<br />
<br /> 87-273 Certificates of Appreciation were presented to Mary
<br />Jo Brady of the Cable Television Commission; Evelyn Monroe of the
<br />Library Board; Horace S. Savage of the Transportation Safety
<br />Commission; James Staten of the Long Term Care Coordinating Committ
<br />and Robert L. Baker, Sr., of the Planning Commission received by
<br />Rev. Alan McFarland on behalf of Mr. Baker, for services rendered.

<br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr.

<br /> WHEREAS, John R. Savage, Minister, on behalf of the Healing
<br />Temple Pentecostal Church, has made application pursuant to ~40-71
<br />(b) of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, for the
<br />granting of a use permit as hereinafter-described; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth has issued the
<br />applicant two earlier use permits for a church on the same [
<br />by resolutions adopted on August 28, 1979 and June 22, 1982; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the terms and conditions attached to the 1982 use
<br />permit were not complied with, thus, invalidating same; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the applicant and the Planning Director have done all
<br />things required to be done in connection with this current appli-
<br />cation; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has recommended the granting
<br /> of said use permit.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
<br /> Portsmouth, Virginia:
