406 July 28, 1987 WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted May 14, 1968 approved a Conservation Plan for the Olde Towne Conservation Projec Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan); and WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for considera- tion and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for the project area, which Plan consists of 5 pages and 2 exhibits; and WHEREAS, lmendment No. 3 proposes to extend the periods of ti~ during which the Plan will be effective, modifies the Plan narrative so as to be consistent with the other conservation districts, and amends the Project boundaries to coincide with the Olde Towne Historic District boundaries; and WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has resolved that this ~mendment is in the best interest of the City's renewal effort; and WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that are imposed by the provisions of the Honsing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, creed, sex or national origin; and WHEREAS, in the judgement of this'Council it is in the interes' of the City and its inhabitants that the said Amendment ~s approved NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That Amendment No. Towne Conservation Project, it is hereby found: 3 to the Conservation Plan for the Olde having been duly reviewed and considere (a) That the objectives Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can of said Amendment to the Plan. of the Olde Tcwne Conservation be better achieved by the adoptim (b) That Amendment No. 3 meets the requirements of a plan for to Chapter i of Title 36 of the Code to the Plan for the project are~ a conservation project pursuan~ of Virginia, i950, as amended 2. That Amendment No. 3 to the Olde Towne Conservation Plan for the Olde Towne Conservation Project, having been duly reviewed and considered, is hereby approved and the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a copy of said Amendment with the minutes of this meeting."
