406 <br /> <br />July 28, 1987 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted May 14, 1968 <br />approved a Conservation Plan for the Olde Towne Conservation Projec <br />Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for considera- <br />tion and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for the project area, <br />which Plan consists of 5 pages and 2 exhibits; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, lmendment No. 3 proposes to extend the periods of ti~ <br />during which the Plan will be effective, modifies the Plan narrative <br />so as to be consistent with the other conservation districts, and <br />amends the Project boundaries to coincide with the Olde Towne <br />Historic District boundaries; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />has resolved that this ~mendment is in the best interest of the <br />City's renewal effort; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that are <br />imposed by the provisions of the Honsing and Community Development <br />Act of 1974, as amended, including those prohibiting discrimination <br />because of race, age, color, creed, sex or national origin; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the judgement of this'Council it is in the interes' <br />of the City and its inhabitants that the said Amendment ~s approved <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Amendment No. <br />Towne Conservation Project, <br />it is hereby found: <br /> <br />3 to the Conservation Plan for the Olde <br />having been duly reviewed and considere <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives <br />Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can <br />of said Amendment to the Plan. <br /> <br />of the Olde Tcwne Conservation <br />be better achieved by the adoptim <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. 3 <br />meets the requirements of a plan for <br />to Chapter i of Title 36 of the Code <br /> <br />to the Plan for the project are~ <br />a conservation project pursuan~ <br />of Virginia, i950, as amended <br /> <br /> 2.
