August 25, 1987 <br /> <br /> "The City Treasurer ~s requesting the following refund (with- <br />out interest) for duplicate payment of Real Estate Taxes: <br /> <br />$359.52 to <br />Jones & Quayle <br />3800 Poplar Hill Road <br />Suite G <br />ChesaFeake, VA 23321 <br /> <br /> I recommend that this motion be adopted and the refund be <br />granted." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Gray, that the refund <br />be granted (without interest), as requested, and was adopted by <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS - <br /> <br /> 87-285 Councilman Corprew offered the following nominations <br />for appointments to the following Boards/Commissions: <br /> <br />Railroad Relocation Task Force Committee <br /> <br /> William L. Mann, fAdm. James A. Brown, Cameron C. Pitts, to <br />be appointed, ~ith~no term set. <br /> <br /> Mormon of Mrs. Webb and seconded Mr. Barnes, to close nomina- <br />tions, and there being no further nominations, the above members <br />were elected to the designated Committee, and was adopted by unani- <br />mous vote. <br /> <br /> 87-579 Stephen P. Bristow, ~249 Morgate Lane, representing <br />Citizens for Quality Education, spoke concerning the school board <br />budget and the possibility that school employees m~ght not be able <br />to renew their Blue Cross'Blue Shield insurance plans. <br /> <br /> The City Attorney infermed Mr. Bristow, that the problem had <br />been resolved. <br /> <br /> 87~580 -~ Johm-}{..H~dy, 4~4 Ri~er~Sho~ R~a~representing J. H. Hard <br />Inc., spoke concerning a request to rehear zoning item Z-8~-5, as <br />he stated he was not notified as to when the item was coming befor <br />Council. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mrs. Webb rehear this <br />matter at the next available meeting after the matter has been <br />properly advertised. <br /> <br /> Subtitute motion of Mr.~Barnes and seconded by Mrs. Webb, <br />that Mra Hardy be present at the next Council meeting with his le <br />Counsel present to explain his proposal and why Council should re- <br />hear the matter, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 87-381 - Richard Ramsey, 4300 South Street, representing <br />Precinct Civic Forums, spoke concerning civil rights under Article <br />II, Section 7, the Constitution of Virginia. (Exhibit #87-381) <br /> <br /> Mr. Ramsey was not granted additional time as requested. <br /> 87-382 - Richard Ramsey, 4300 South Street, representing 23rd <br /> Precinct Civic Forum, spoke concerning meandering water line at <br /> 4308 Bart Street; and insulation in the attic_and improper venting of gas <br /> heater in.ahome whereby abui~lding permit had been issued. <br /> Bill Watson, 200 Gee Street, representing 23rd Precinct Civic <br /> Forum, spoke concerning the meandering water pipe in the Westhaven <br /> neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Webb requested that the City'Manager furnish a <br /> report on the matter. <br /> <br /> <br />
