i86 <br /> <br />October 27, 1987 <br /> <br /> Gail Tiesenga, 375 Middle Street, representing Olde To, ne <br />Civic League, spoke in opposition to the project and requested <br />a meeting with the applicant before final approval off the <br />pro3ect. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Barnes, to defer <br />GNP 87-12 as requested by the applicant to the regular meeting <br />of November 24, 1987, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Other Items Under Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />87-441 Use permit application: <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Resolution granting a use permit to Kenneth W. <br />Tomosovich, Owner, by Louis C. Bell, III, for a <br />junkyard and salvage business at 800 Peninsula <br />Avenue, approved on first reading at the Public <br />Hearing of October 13, 1987, was taken up and <br />read. <br /> <br /> Louise C. Bell, III, 801Gatefield Lane, Chesapeake, was <br />available to answer any questions. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mrs. Lucas, and seconded by Mr. Corprew, the <br />following resolution was adopted on final reading and by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION GRANTING A USE PERMIT TO LOUIS C. BELL, III <br />TO OPERATE A JUNKYARD AT 800 PENINSULA AVENUE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Kenneth W. Tomosovich, owner, by Louis C. Bell, <br />III has made application pursuant to ~40-69 (b) of the Code of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, as amended, for the granting <br />of a use permit as hereinafter-described; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the applicant and the Planning <br />all things required to be done in connection <br />application; and <br /> <br />Director have done <br />with said <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has recommended the <br />granting of said use permit, with conditions. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That the use for which the use permit is sought: <br /> <br /> (a) Will not affect the health and safety of persons <br />residing or working in the neighborhood of the proposed use; <br /> <br /> (b) Will not be detrimental to the public use or <br />injurious to the property and improvements in the neighborhood; <br />and <br /> <br /> (c) will be in accord ~ith the purposes of th~ Zoning <br />Chapter of the City Code. <br /> <br /> 2. Louis C. Bell, III is hereby granted a use permi!t <br />pursuant to ~40-69 (b) of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, to operate a junkyard as that term is defined therein <br />at 800 Peninsula Avenue, such parcel being more particularly <br />described as Tax Map 188, Parcel 1 (UP-87-20). <br /> <br /> <br />
